Conceptual

For the Conceptual Project, we have adopted more abstract thinking and communication skills in order to express ourselves.

In our classes we have the privilege of working with lots of pieces of modern equipment. Of the many applications and equipment we learned how to use some include: DSLR Cameras, Tascam Audio Recorders, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Avid Pro Tools, WordPress, and Google Apps.

What I really valued was the equipment that we had available to work with and the help that I relieved from my peers.

Ekphrastic Poem

Remains of a Broken Time

In english class in addition to our Haiku, we had the choice of making an Ekphrastic or free verse poem. Ekphrastic poems are based off of a piece of art of our own choosing that spoke to us.

I was able to apply the techniques I learned from editing previous photos to my poem. I layered it so I had the background of my choosing and I decided to try and align some of my words with the actual sculpture itself. I was able to import audio files and edit the sound so it followed a more smooth pattern.

Photo Haiku and Video

In English and Digital Media we were assigned to write a Haiku using a concept statement we received in class. Mine was Confidence through the experience of sharing/giving. In digital media we took the Haiku and turned it into a piece of mixed media, specifically a video.

Premier Pro

The Photo Haiku and Video production helped me get a sense of the program for future use. This was my first time using premiere pro, and I learned how to edit audio, and how to keyframe (manipulate the text by changing its position, size, opacity, etc…).

Elements and Principles of Art

This digital media assignment tasked us with using the internet to find traditional, modern, and photographs with different art techniques in them.

Experimental Film

In film class we were tasked with making experimental films using concept statements that we were given in English. The same concept statement that we used to make the haiku video.

I created the project using premier pro, I took the shots at different locations available to me including Loyola Elementary school and my house. Some of the shots used in the film were shot in front of a green-screen. Most of the sound taken was from the youtube audio library, and within the film I overlapped footage to make it seem like I had more than one of the same object. I also used a few images within my film as the backdrop for the green-screen shots.

I valued the experience with the cameras that the experimental project enabled me to get. And the help I received from other students and friends to edit and shoot the film. I’m more acquainted with importing things in and exporting my film out. And I’ve learned a variety of angles looks better, and the importance of the lighting.
