Reflection Video Essay

For my Reflection Video Essay, I had to create a 2-minute long video that represented the prompt “Who am I?” It is also the same type of prompt that many colleges use in order to admit people to go to school there for film. We had to incorporate what we had learned in the class and also elements of vulnerability, our core values and also a universal application or relevance.

Process

In order to produce this video, we were given about a week and a half to plan, film and produce a rough cut of it. I personally had to go around the school, looking for people willing to be in the video and give a believable acting performance that showed the emotion in the video. We used our DSLR cameras to film, and then we used Adobe Premier Pro in order to edit and splice together the videos.

Here is the interface of Adobe Premier Pro. This is what I used to edit the video.

In creating this piece, I learned a lot about planning out my shots and making sure I had all the footage I needed in order to edit and be productive in the postproduction phase of creating my video. This was the first video that I have ever created within the setting of Freestyle, and so I really enjoyed being able to learn how the program works and how the projects work within the program in addition to learning the technique and planning skills.
