Narrative Visual Perspective in Digital Media

Photoshop Art

Pastel Painting: In this photoshop painting, I referenced a picture of my dog. Then I used a brush in photoshop that was the pastel painting brush and used the eyedropper tool to match the colors to my dogs fur.

Water Color Painting: My watercolor painting is loosely based on Harry Potter. The cat is Professor McGonagall from Harry Potter. Then I used the watercolor texture image to create a more water color-looking image.

Photoshop Painting with Artist Statement: In my explanation it explains it more in-depth.

Artist Statement: My inspiration for this piece was actually from a funny video I saw of a giraffe spitting on a person’s face. When I started the painting I drew the basic outline for the giraffe’s face and the spots on its body. However, it looked a little boring. That’s when I decided to make it a pastel giraffe with lots of colors to make it pop. I also added a very prominent red tongue. I am most proud of the fact that I harnessed my creativity to further a piece that looked rather bland at the beginning. Using and applying my creativity is hard for me sometimes so being able to see it well put together was incredible.

This changed my view in seeing other’s art because when I looked at drawings for painting before, I never realized how tedious the process was. I knew people were talented and they came out amazing but I didn’t realize they did art in many many layers and that it was super time-consuming. I have come to appreciate the little details that artists put in their work because it is very hard and tedious.

Surreal Photoshop Composition:

For the Surreal Photoshop Composition, I used an image of angels and overlaid flowers and a bee. Then I used an image of birds flying and blended it slightly into the background seeming visual but mystical. I call it “Healer of the ages.”

Artist Statement:

My piece ‘Healer of the Ages’ was inspired by my love for the things that can’t be seen but are spiritually known to exist. Just because people can’t see it’s existence that doesn’t mean it isn’t true. The piece is a take on my belief that things could be very different in another universe. Angels can be seen and maybe even flowers grow out of their heads but we don’t know. This can be a perspective change for others and their belief for the things unseen. Maybe those are overlooking the spiritual world and its power.

Something that was an issue during this process was aligning the flowers properly with heads and using the proper Photoshop tools to align them and blend them. The process of blending the individual aspects into the pictures, like the flowers, bees, and birds was difficult because I wanted them to blend into the picture nicely. I had to make my brush very small and fine so that I would get really close to the outlines of the image. One way I grew during this process is by learning to be more patient with small details. I learned about spending more time planning on what I want but incorporating ideas in my picture but also going with the new ideas that come to me while I’m making it.

Before and After Comparison:

For this Specific one the after is a watercolor image and again I used the textured image to create the watercolor effect.

For this Before and After Imagine, The after is a pastel painting that was based on the Before.

MULTI Layered Art

For the Multi-Layer art Project we had to create an Illustrator File with various layers that wold show a completed image at the end. The final produced would then be engraved to create a light box, pizza board to metal engraving. For mine I choose the light box.
