Video productions not related to the Documentary come in the forms of animation: studying lighting, movement, backgrounds, etc.

Lip Sync Animation

One of the video productions we had in animation not related to the Documentary was the Lip Sync Animation. True to its name, we were to find a piece of audio and animate a mouth to look as if it was saying those words. Rather than a simple open/close animation, we had to animate the mouth for a variety of types of sounds one could make. I chose to animate Marlon Brando as Don Vito Corleone in the Godfather. The parts I used included the famous phrase, “I’m gonna make him an offer he can’t refuse” and the preceding lines.

aah
ess, ss, stuh, dee, gee, small consonant sounds
i
mm, pee, bee
oo, U&W
top teeth showing
eee
fuh/vuh
luh/laa
oh!
rest

Using those images, I created a lip sync animation to match the audio track from The Godfather.

A little rough, but this is it!

For reference: “You look terrible. I want you to eat. I want you to rest well and a month from now this… Hollywood big shot’s gonna give you what you want.”
“(It’s) too late. They start shooting in a week.”
“I’m gonna make him an offer he can’t refuse.”

I got this idea from a poster I made for my friend a while back. He’s a movie buff, and I made him a poster of The Godfather for fun.

The poster. I used this poster as a base to draw Vito Corleone in my animation.
