Photoshop Art

This unit introduced us to the many different types of art that can be creating within Photoshop.

Photoshop Pastel Painting

Using my Wacom tablet, I was able to create a pastel painting that was based off of a fruit bowl I saw online.

Watercolor Painting

Using my Wacom tablet again, I was able to create a watercolor painting. We explored this using multiple different techniques and images.

Photoshop Surreal Composition

We further explored Photoshop art through surrealism and combining images together. We had to manipulate shadows, opacity, size, and more.

My project is about the future. I envisioned a world where the Earth turns into a cookie and where we are riding roller coasters and eating McDonald’s with aliens. I learned the importance of picking really good-quality images because, with bad-quality images, it’s very hard to use the quick selection tool. I have one image that fits my idea perfectly, but the image quality was only decent. This resulted in a less clean selection, but I think the placement and idea outweighed it. Of course, I also grew as a digital artist/Photoshop artist. I got better at using curves and the quick selections tool. If I could change something, I would change the moon to be a fun amusement park. I feel like the moon does give the photo a sense of reality, but also I think it would be fun to add the park. I’m really proud of the cookie. I didn’t know how it would turn out, but I was really happy with how the cookie blends in with the earth. I hope to apply these new skills to future projects. This project changed the way that I see digital art. I realized how much detail goes into it. It also requires a lot of precision when making the edits.

Photoshop VR 360 Gallery

We also used Photoshop to create a Photoshop VR 360 gallery. You can move around and look at different images.

Before and After Comparison

We also used Photoshop to create a before and after comparison using a water color effect. We used many techniques to make the watercolor look real.

Multi-Layed Art Project

For this big production, we used Adobe Illustrator to design a laser-cut art piece. I chose to do mine on stacked wood. This multi-Layer art project will be based on the show, “Better Call Saul.” Better Call Saul is a spin-off of the famous show, “Breaking Bad.” The show is based on Jimmy McGill who starts off as a public defender. The show goes deep into his background and relationship with his brother and then how he ended up being Walter White’s lawyer in Breaking Bad. While I could have taken inspiration from the amazing cinematography and expensive sets, I decided to take inspiration from a park bench. Specifically, the park bench that rests outside of Chuck Mcgill’s house (Jimmy’s brother). Most of the time, this park bench is in the background; however, it’s very significant throughout the show. They use the bench as a safe place for Jimmy Mcgill to sit and think, where he can be free from his fast-paced and stressful life. With all of the stress that he deals with from work, he is rarely able to think. He goes from one client to the next to a phone call after phone call and can never seem to get his big break. On this bench, we’ve seen him sad, happy, worried, passionate, lifeless, and passionate. When you think about it, we all have a park bench in our life, literally or figuratively. While I’m not very good at drawing or art in general, I want to recreate a park bench through stacked wood art to the best of my ability.
