My name is Paige Kasso and I am a student at Freestyle Academy. At Freestyle, I’ve taken classes in Digital Media, Design, and English. I’ve developed a diverse portfolio of work during my time in this school, and I’m really pleased with it. I have always been into photography and playing around with acrylic paint, Freestyle has helped me learn so much more. I have really loved everything about Freestyle and would definitely recommend it to others who are interested.
I am planning on studying digital art next year at Linfield University. I am super excited because it will also have a small community like Freestyle. I have met the art professors and love them already. Outside of school, I run track for the Los Altos High track team and I am planning on continuing my athletics into college at Linfield. I also love being in the outdoors and that is reflected in all my work. I love hiking, biking, and camping. I always have a camera with me to take pictures of the beautiful outdoors. I take so much inspiration from the nature around me.
Showcase Video
This video was harder for me to make. Voiceovers are not my thing. I had a lot of editing of the audio to do. I do think that the final product turned out really smooth which surprised me. I’m not a big video editor so this project forced me out of my comfort zone.
Reel
I really enjoyed putting this reel together because I like seeing the progression of my work over the course of my time here at Freestyle. I am not into video editing at all but I found putting this video together kind of fun. The skills I learned in the video are basic skills everyone should know in video editing. It is good for me to keep making projects every once in a while to brush up on these skills so I never forget them.
Reflection
I have learned and grown so much here at Freestyle. I started off very shy and not confident in my work at all but I have since learned to be more confident. I am proud of all the work I’ve done and even though at the time some of the projects seemed boring or useless, I now know the importance of them all. I feel super confident with all my skills going into college and after talking with the Linfield Art Professors, I know that I am one of the most well-versed person joining their program. When I told them all the different projects I have done over the year they were very impressed and wished their schools had a program like this when they were in high school. I am super thankful for the teachers here who have taught me so much and I’m super excited for what is to come in my future.
