This week we were supposed to photograph a landscape using negative space. I wanted to do this in a more creative way, and when I saw this group of old gnarly trees, I thought that they would be perfect to create some interesting shapes with negative space. I took this photo from below the tree, looking up at the sky, to create a simple background. It was a beautiful cloudless day, which silhouetted the tree nicely. I like this photo because it creates a lot of visual interest, seemingly chaotic with all the branches twisting around and pointing in different directions, while at the same time being simple in composition and content.
