Warmth

Warm orange fire

This week, we were supposed to take a photo telling a story that makes you feel warm inside. When I took this photo, I was warming up by the fire with a blanket. After a long chilly day, I gathered with my family around the fire. That scene makes me feel warm and happy. To me, this photo evokes the feeling of that circle of warmth you can feel around a campfire, protecting you from the chill outside. The warm glow of the fire, its oranges and reds, brings a very warm feeling. Since the beginning of time, humans have gathered around fire. It has always been a place where you are safe and warm. It is a place where families and friends gather and share stories and there is a warmth to that. I also like the effect of the light from the light string, forming stars or pinpricks of light that echo the blocks of light through the grate at the bottom of the photo. I used Photoshop to bring out the orange of the fire a little bit more, which I think warmed up the overall colors to add to the mood of the photo.
