“Tell a story. Make it compelling while using only shadow.”
It’s my first day in Japan– we finally arrived at the Itsukushima Shrine after a 10 hour flight, several hours of delays, another domestic flight, an hour long bus ride, and a 30 minute long ferry ride. Now, seeing the shrine’s massive torii gate, I know the wait was worth it.
I think this is probably one of the best shadow shots I’ve ever taken. This photo was taken (while I was on MVHS’ Iwata trip) at the Itsukushima Shrine, on an island just off the coast of Hiroshima. I managed to get a hold of one of the trip chaperone’s Nikon cameras and WOW was it so much better than my old phone. I love how the shadow coming from the gate really helps portray just how massive it is.
