Portrait

The Portrait assignment was given to us in Design class, tasking us with creating a proffesional grade portrait of a character from one of our Flash Fictions. We used proffesional 3 point lighting techniques as well as proffesional grade equipment to complete the portrait lighitng. The lighting equipment included a key light, which is the main and brightest light, the fill light, which rid the pictures of any harsh face shadows, and the backlight which makes the picture "pop". 420blztifgts. After taking over a hundred photos, we narrowed them down and edited the final one in photoshop. We then patched up any minor flaws such as over exposure or under exposure, unwanted spots specs, and any other problems the photo encountered.

The character depicted in this portrait is Pastella, an energetic and enthusiastic teen boxer who is about to fight for the title. Pastella has been boxing ever since she was a little girl, but she has trained extra hard for this particular fight, because it could make or break her career.  Before the fight, she was confident that it would be a sure victory, but as a precaution she trained intensely the previous night. She is confident but tired for the fight, and she tries her best to be optimistic. Pastella is a confident but not cocky, quirky character, who has a certain finesse and in-your-face kind of attitude.

In this photograph, Pastella is getting ready to fight, trying her best to portray a confident and fierce look. Although she is tired from the night before, she tries her best to intimidate her opponent. She is swaying back and forth before the fight in an attempt to create a rhythm to which she can brutally defeat her opponent. The purpose of the somewhat false courage is to trick her opponent as well as herself that it would be a surefire victory
