Introduction
For the Conceptual Project, Juniors develop their abstract thinking and communication skills to answer the question,
“How can I use unconventional forms to express myself?”
This project had me using a variety of different mediums to convey emotion and opinion. The different methods and styles have allowed me to express myself in my own way, using many different apps such as Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and Audition.
The Haiku had me expressing a feeling through poetry, using few words to show countless emotion. The essay had me connecting art to different experiences and feelings, making new meaning out of the art. The photoshop blend had me making new creative photos by blending previous ones. All of these experiences in Digital Media and English have given me a new perspective on how to express emotion and experiences, and have given me a wider scope of the world.
Haiku
In english we were tasked with writing a haiku given a concept statement. This haiku was meant to represent an emotion in a unique way, challenging ourselves to think more abstractly.
My concept statement was “I am experiencing the feeling of anxiety through swimming”. After thinking about the statement for a bit, I decided that I wanted to go for a feeling of drowning, as it represents anxiety and is related to swimming. Once done writing the haiku, we were then told to add a photo to compliment the text. After that, in Digital Media we recorded an audio version of the haiku, while adding a bit of animation to the text and made the whole thing into a short video.
