Multilayer Art
To go along with the Worldbuilding project in English, we had a new project in DM where we would make a ‘3D’ image out of a bunch of 2D layers. The goal was to make something somewhat related to our world we made in English. With Illustrator, we would make a bunch of layers and put them on top of each other so that it would look 3D.
For my project, I decided to make a crystal cavern light box, so that it could look like the light of the crystals was coming from the back of the box. The box was built from the back up, and has a purple light in the back.

We took the illustrator files and had Mr. Flo laser cut the layers out of paper. The building process took a bit as each layer had to be separately attached carefully to make sure all of it was lined up. Overall it came out pretty well.
After making the box, we took the layers from illustrator and imported them into After Effects. We used the tools in that program to make a 3d rendering of the box, and made a video with it.
Overall, the layered art projects was pretty cool and I was happy with how my box came out in the end. The light in the back illuminates the cave so it really gives a sense of depth. It was also cool working with the box in After Effects, as I had never done 3d rendering in After Effects, and messing with the light was fun.
