Zenith and Product Logo

In design we had two projects that I am going to showcase here. The first project was a product logo, label, and Triptych. The point of this project was to make up our own fake product then make real designs to advertise and sell our product. The other project was to make a movie poster for a made up movie script that you write. The script was supposed to be very simple and just be something to base your poster off of. I chose to make my poster about a football player who just got drafted to my favorite NFL team from my dream college.

The product that I chose to do my mock-up on is rocky road flavored soda. The product is basically sparkling chocolate milk with a hint of almond and marshmallow.  I chose to market this product for mainly ages 13 – 23 because it’s a caffeinated drink to help them get through the school day. It’s also marketed at kids because rocky road soda wouldn’t appeal to adults as much as teens.

I made my product label in Illustrator using many different tools and techniques, but I mostly used the pen tool. I used the pen tool to make the outline for the mountains and marshmallows, and then I filled those outlines with the appropriate colors using the fill tool. The mountains didn’t look quite right with just a solid color so I used the sponge effect from the effect gallery menu to make it look more realistic. Some of the challenges included making the marshmallows look good, and making the background mountains look right. I originally had all of my marshmallows the same size and orientation, but I had to mix it up to make it look more realistic. I had to adjust the size of the background mountains many times to make them look proper, and I lowered the opacity to make them look more distant.

The main character is a football player who was born in Israel and played soccer as a kid, but once he moved to California for college he fell in love with football. He applied to colleges in California because he wanted to major in engineering and then get a job in silicon valley. He was accepted to USC and walked on to the practice squad of their football team after watching their first game. He had never really seen football before because it isn’t a popular sport in Israel, and he fell in love with it instantly. After an injury to one of the team’s Wide Receivers he got called up to play in the week 3 game against Stanford. He eventually became the star of the team and went on to be drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the 1st round of the 2023 NFL draft as the 23rd overall pick.

I used Illustrator to make this project, but more specifically I mainly used the pen tool in Illustrator. I used the pen tool to create the outline for the football field, the helmets, and the team logos. Then I used the fill tool to make the outlines the correct color. I also frequently used the eyedropper tool to make multiple things the same exact color.
