The goal of this unit was to explore a passion and improve upon a particular skill set that addresses 21st-century skills.
Design
In design, For my exploration, I wanted to better understand something that I use often in my everyday life, so I decided to research and explore how noise-canceling headphones work. We were tasked with researching and explaining a passion we’ve wanted to know more about.
Reflection
Throughout this exploration process, I not only learned how the things I use everyday work, but it allowed me to further develop my skills as a digital artist.
Digital Media
In digital media, for the exploration project, we were tasked with creating an experimental music session. Having no formal prior music theory understanding, I wanted to recreate a song I knew with a different production process. Using AVID ProTools, I was able to digitally create instrument tracks and produce a song.
Goal
My goal for this piece, I wanted to create a piano piece that was accompanied by other percussion-based instruments. Having created this in ProTools using MIDI tools, this was very easy to accomplish through the gallery of thousands of virtual instruments at our disposal. I’m most proud of the way that I was able to play the piano because I have never learned how to play or knew anything about music theory. I learned a lot about how most modern music is created using this type of MIDI virtual instrument.
Reflection
I’m proud of the way that I was able to create a song that emulates some of my favorite acoustic piano songs. I listened to a lot of my favorites before creating this piece and found what I wanted to incorporate into my final session.
