The Richman Distr. & Sutro Baths

<Use white balance for a creative photo that’s not necessarily color accurate>

For this assignment, me and a group of friends went up to The Richmond District of San Francisco during Golden Hour to get photos. We started walking from the Richmond District down to Ocean Beach and over to Sutro Baths, a historic landmark of the city that throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, became a popular summer location for people in the city and the surrounding areas. The baths, fed from the Pacific ocean and heated, served the city for close to 90 years before closing due to a fire. The remaining ruins, now a public landmark, are open to the public and are rumored to be haunted after dark.

For this assignment, we took advantage of the setting sun over the ocean and used experimental white balance shifts to accentuate the colors in the photography.

The 6th image of a building facade is not color accurate. As the facade faced west, the setting sun turned the usual blue siding of the building into a copper-red tone.

Similarly to the building facade in the 6th image, the first image of St. Thomas Apostle Church is not color accurate. The spire and western facade have been turned golden due to the setting sun.
