Storytelling: Film Noir

Film noir was a film style from the 1940s that featured darkness, shadows, and harsh contrast with light. Film noir movies were often mysteries where the protagonist didn’t know who he could trust. In this photo my goal was to play with shadows and darkness (as well as photoshop elements) to make my cat Nevsky look mysterious and like he is in a film noir film. I turned off the lights in the hallway and then shined a flashlight through a window in my house. I then went to grab Nevsky. The problem is that cats do not have attention spans and Nevsky kept walking down the hallway to go and sit in a dark shadowy part. After some 10 minutes of me trying to get him to come back and trying to use other cats, I decided just to take a picture of him as he walked down the hallway. Although there isn’t a window shadow, Nevsky’s tail shadow is very defined. He definitely looks like he stole all the cat treats.
