About Me

Hello! My name is Zeytin Ercan, and I was a a Junior and Senior at Freestyle Academy from 2021-2023! My primary interests lay in language learning and art, specifically drawing/painting. My dream job is to either work at an art museum, or be an animator.

From a young age, I was surrounded by art and artists. Essentially all of my mom’s side of the family was affiliated with art in some way, with my Grandma being an art teacher, my Uncle being a painter and professional set designer, and my mom being head of the education department at our local art museum. Because of this, I’ve always had a passion for art, and as I’ve grown older, that passion has honed in on animation in particular. Animation has always been a super important part of my life, so when I learned about Freestyle Academy and the animation class they offered, I knew it would be a great opportunity to not only experiment with an art medium that I’ve always loved, but to meet and socialize with others who share my love for it!

As someone that’s always felt out of place as an artist in the STEM oriented environment that is Silicon Valley, Freestyle taught me that technology didn’t need to be intimidating, and that I could actually use it to enhance my art and creativity. Freestyle has also given me the opportunity to spend time with other like-minded artists, a lot of whom I would’ve never met if I hadn’t attended Freestyle. I am eternally grateful for the teachers at Freestyle, the art I’ve gotten to make, and the people I’ve gotten to meet.
