Showcase

Intro

For my showcase, I decided to present my world building project. I chose this because reflecting on my two years at Freestyle, this is the project I feel the most proud of and the strongest artistic connection to. When starting the project, I didn’t really intend for it to go beyond just that, a project, but after presenting my pitch to the class, I got really positive responses and a lot of my classmates encouraging me to continue the story after graduating.

Now that I know I want to develop the story further, I feel like it would be much more feasible to create a graphic novel instead of a full-length animated film. I’m fairly new to writing fiction, and often struggle with pacing, so any critiques with converting my story into graphic novel form in a way that doesn’t feel rushed would be especially appreciated!

My showcase video!

I unfortunately wasn’t able to include all of the details to my story in my video, so below is my full narrative treatment:

Reel

Along with the showcase video, Freestyle students were asked to create a short reel of our favorite work from our elective classes. These are some of my personal favorite projects I’ve gotten to work on during my time in animation at Freestyle!

Additional Writing

I’ve personally always enjoyed writing, and the English class at Freestyle has only encouraged that passion. I find my strengths typically lay in non-fiction writing, such as research papers and argumentative essays, so here are two examples of what I believe to be my strongest recent written work.

The first essay was a profile I wrote on my former bosses for the documentary unit at Freestyle.

The second essay is my personal statement I used for college applications.
