Leading Lines

January 3, 2025

an image of a lake with two very large hills at either side, creating a sort of gateway for the water. its cloudy. The lake has a long, floating object in it(i dont really know what it is). the hills are a sort of dead tan with a bit of green and brown near the water. The right hill has some trees growing on it. at the top of this image is a looong cloud stretching in the frame. Photographers note: It smelled strongly of fish(i took this image on a fishing pier). it was also cold, windy, and rainy. the wind was a little loud.

This image is of Los Vaqueros reservoir. I decided to compose this photo to try and imitate the illusion of infinity. I did this by framing these two hills in a way where it looks like there’s more beyond them. The grey clouds in the distance helped conceal what was really there and helped create this illusion of this landscape going on forever beyond the hills. The way this Photo connects to the title of this post, “Leading lines”, is the way the hills lead into the water, bringing the viewers eyes to the center of the image.
