In Digital Media for this unit, we did a lot of different challenging projects. One of the more creative ones was our multi-layered project in Illustrator. I think what made this project so unique was how it was based off of a skill we had used a lot in the past already, which was illustrator. We were first introduced to illustrator in Junior year, and we had learned a lot of beginner to intermediate techniques.
What made this project different than that, was that now since we had already learned a lot of the fundamental techniques in Illustrator, we were free to be more creative, since none of our time was being used watching tutorials and learning the program. For our project, my partner Cris and I decided we wanted to make it on something trendy, and go for a kind of minimalistic feel to it. We ended up deciding on using the Mandalorean as inspiration for our multi-layered project.
We decided to minimalize curves, and go for more angular geometry for each of our layers. The art style we were going for is kind of reminiscent of low-polygon graphics, and I think it fit well with the LED’s we were given. With the piece, we wanted to highlight the contrast between good and evil, shown by the red and green LED’s.
