For our podcast, Aiya and I decided to interview different types of music producers to see what the common traits were. A founding idea of this podcast was to figure out any common ground between them, and seeing if we could learn something from their collective experiences. From interviewing several different artists, ranging from Band members, to marching band, and even to MVHS choir madrigals, we discovered a few common traits.

First, we discovered that everyone no matter their background had learned the values of teamwork from making music. The common theme was that no one person was valued over others in terms of the overall composition of music.

Another theme we discovered was self improvement and adversity. When each of the artists we interviewed talked about how they became fluent in music, they all shared the same story. When they first started, they sucked. It took lots and lots of practice to get themselves into leadership positions for band, choir, etc.

In conclusion, during our podcast we discovered that learning music is actually a catalyst for learning several universal life skills that go much further than just playing a few notes. Teamwork and adversity are both incredibly valuable skills that are pretty difficult to learn on your own.
