Hi, my name is Alex Sharp. I’m a senior at Freestyle Academy, which is an amazing program for digital arts. I’m taking film production and for the past 2 years that I’ve been here, I’ve learned so much about filmmaking and storytelling and my work has gotten a lot more professional. I’m planning to go to the University of Arizona for a degree in Film and Television in fall.
Film is one of my passions, but so is animation. For my final project at Freestyle I created an animated short and I would like to present it to you and hear your feedback for it. I would like to hear what you think about the colors and the timing of the editing, and anything else. I was worried about the backgrounds being too messy or distracting, so please let me know your thoughts on that. The showcase video for my production is linked below.
Below is a link to my film reel that includes most of the work that I have done over the last two years in Film Production class. The music in this video is a piece I composed for my junior narrative film. Thank you for watching and I hope you enjoy it.
Reflection
I’m glad I got to do an animated short as my last project of high school because it’s something I’ve always wanted to make and I think it turned out good. If I had more time, I would have worked longer on the concept art – especially for the backgrounds – and gotten feedback from more people. However, I surprised myself with what I was able to do. I’m proud of myself for coming up with a finished product in a short time frame.
I’m proud of all the work that I’ve done at Freestyle and I’m grateful for the opportunities this program has given me. I have always wanted to go into an art career, and I’ve learned a lot of skills here that prepare me for college and a job in the film/animation industry. I’m not only grateful for the learning experience, but also the community. It has been really valuable to be part of a community that shares my interests and helped me find a place for myself in high school.
