Photo Blog #34: Color Without Color

Black and white photo of flowers

This week we were challenged to capture a story in a photo without any color. To do this, I tried to find something out in nature that is normally very colorful and I found these flowers. Then, I edited the photo to be in black and white. Once I did this I discovered how similar the black part in the middle of the focused flower looks like the silhouette of an eagle with its wings spread out. I find it interesting that I might not have even noticed that detail if I hadn’t changed it to black and white. It also started to make me think of those Greek myths and fables where fantastical things happen, and I imagined that the “eagle” must’ve done something bad for it to get trapped inside a flower.
