By far our longest unit thus far at Freestyle has been the Narrative 2 / “Worldbuilding” unit. Throughout this unit, we explored with creating long-form narratives as opposed to short-form like we did last year. We developed complex characters, world lore, and even did in-depth research to give our stories elements that are grounded in reality.
While a huge bulk of Narrative 2 was focused on English, there were plenty of assignments in our other classes that aligned with the skills we needed to succeed in this unit. In Digital Media, we made surreal compositions and even layered wood art to give a multi-media perspective of our previously only conceptual written works. In my elective class, Animation, we applied our new storytelling techniques and principles to create the 3D animated senior narrative.
If you’d like to learn more about what I did in each class during Narrative 2, please direct yourself to the drop-down under “Narrative 2” in websites navigation bar.
By the way, here’s a bonus for you! During this unit Mr. Greco asked me to make a video introducing the character writing assignment we had. Since I have had previous experience with worldbuilding in the past, he thought I would give decent input on the subject. Hope you enjoy!
