The reflections unit was formed around the central question of, “Who am I?” We were tasked with discovering more about our identities, or more specifically our core values and beliefs. In our English Class, we were tasked with writing a personal essay guided by College Essay Essentials written by Ethan Sawyer. We followed along through the process of brainstorming, writing and eventually revising before coming out with a polished piece we could be proud of. Meanwhile in Digital media, we were introduced to the Mandala Project, where we got to create a Mandala that incorporated those same or similar core values we explored in English using various symbols and drawings, before then creating a animated text core values video.

This unit taught me to explore myself in ways that I wouldn’t typically have gone into otherwise. Through out this unit, I learned about my personal beliefs and how they were similar or different to my peers and my friends. My final mandala and the theme I chose behind it teaching me more about how I process my thoughts and emotions and what I value.
