This week, we were challenged to take a picture using the rule of thirds to show motion. I wanted the movement in this picture to feel natural, so I asked my friend to spin around rather than having her do a more forced motion like jumping or running. Spinning around in circles always makes me feel like a little kid again — happy and carefree. I feel like this emotion was captured in this image.
The lighting, setting, and color palette helped contribute to the feeling of freedom and youth. I really like the striking affect of the contrast between the light and shadows as well as between the orange and green. I feel like it makes Roula stand out as the subject of this photo even more.
