girl hiding behind tree
Shutter Speed 1/150, F6.3, ISO 400

I took this photo in the redwood grove at Shoup Park. The girl, the subject of the picture, seems as if she’s hiding behind the tree, or as if the camera has caught her. I believe that this candid style of photo is similar to the way that humans feel when we see strangers. Those moments are characterized by brief eye contact and a realization that we may never meet again, yet we save it in our memory- or in this case, a photograph.
