Narrative Visual Perspective in Film

From November to April, we used advanced pre-production, production, and post-production techniques to write a 10-page screenplay and develop and produce 8-10 minute narrative story. We dove into advanced cinematography and lighting techniques, narrative structures and archetypes, and visual effects in Adobe After Effects.

After pitching and rewriting our idea several times, Tegan Parket Morris and I decided to write a psychological thriller about a troubled husband and a malicious therapist. We dedicated many hours to writing a script in StudioBinder, lining our screenplay, and creating a shotlist and stripboard to make production more efficient.

We even participated in an entertaining acting exercise that helped us be become better directors for our own actors.

Film Stripboard in StudioBinder

Overall, I grew significantly as a writer, director, and collaborator throughout the duration of this project. I’m extremely proud of Tegan and I for overcoming challenges in our story and with our actors. We greatly improved our organization skills in all stages of production, yet we still managed to maintain our creativity and passion for the film.
