Our narrative project in english was split into two main parts, a research essay and a worldbuilding unit. For our research essay, we analyzed Octavia Butler’s work The parable of the sower. We learned about and used a variety of Buters techniques to research and write about a current controversial topic of our choice.
For my essay I argued a non-standard perspective of how we should view generative AI. I practiced and grew in my gathering and citing sources abilities, to effectively argue that we should utilize generative ai as a tool to expand and support our creative endeavors, instead of replacing our creatives.
Worldbuilding
The second part of our narrative visual perspective was the worldbuilding unit. We worked in groups of three to create ideas, and eventually prepare to present them to the rest of our class, who was acting like industry professionals. as part of our preparation, we would create a narrative treatment, which would include a title, logline, information about key characters, overview, and plot.
I really Enjoyed the worldbuilding project primarily because of my awesome team who worked together really well. The third part of the quote at the top of the website, “journey before destination” I believe encapsulates the project well. We had so many different ideas and the end result was going to end up completely different then what we have today.
