Narrative Visual Perspective in Digital Media

Although the Surreal Composition project had no relation to the Narrative Visual Project in English, it was still a great assignment to grow my photoshop skills. for this assignment specifically, we had to practice blending images into other images to make it fit better.

This piece was created to practice photoshop composition. To challenge myself in that aspect, I chose a base image with a lot of trees that would block many parts of the imported images. I was interested in horizon zero dawn at the time of making it, so I thought that would be an interesting sub theme. I do feel like i challenged myself, but if I had more time or motivation, I think i would try to do more color correction, making the robots look more in the forest. I am proud that the images that I overlayed all have the sun going from the same place, and seem like they are actually in the environment.

The Multi-layered art project

The multi-layered art project is the core digital media assignment for the Senior Narrative project. we were given a choice on what medium our art could take. It could be a Light Box, Ring Art, or Stacked Wood art. I ended up choosing A light box.

For creating the lightbox, I did it with a partner. I think this was a good idea because we were able to shoot ideas off of each other.
We started by sketching out what each layer would be.

After that we would trace and edit our images. The image below shows every layer at once, where in reality each layer would be laser cut onto its own sheet of paper.

After designing the cuts in Adobe Illustrator, we could actually cut them out!

When creating this piece me and my partner did not have a fully fleshed out story at the time, only a general theme and premise. going off our idea, we wanted our documentary crew coming face to face with a dragon in a fantasy world. I think this was one of my first projects that I was really proud of the outcome. I think that was due to a variety of reasons, some of the most important ones being accountable to my partner, and also how much my illustrator skills have improved throughout school. If I had to do this project again I would like to make sure more things had light shining behind them, like the mushroom. Overall, I am super proud of my work and am satisfied.
