ABOUT

EDUCATION

Where did Giselle graduate from? Where is she going next?

Giselle is a Freestyle Academy Film Alumni! She was apart of the MVHS & Freestyle Academy class of 2026. Giselle chose to study at Freestyle because she has always loved writing & story telling. She particularly enjoyed English with Mr. Greco. She loved the idea of a more artistic approach towards English, which isn’t very normalized in a typical high school.

She is now studying at UC Santa Cruz for Film, Digital Media & English! Santa Cruz is just an hour from home, and Giselle chose to attend her next four years at UCSC for the weather. A forest & a beach, how could she say no? She plans to focus on Creative Writing & hopes to write a book over her time at UCSC.

SKILLS

What did Giselle learn? What is she good at?

Freestyle Academy offers a wide range of education. Giselle learned various Adobe programs, including but not limited to, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop & Pro Tools. This website showcases some of her work.

At Mountain View High School she was apart of Poetry Club, AVID, and other rigorous classes. As a first generation student apart of the AVID program she enhanced her communication skills and learned how to navigate such an unfamiliar system. She was also the Public Relations board member for Poetry Club! She reached out & managed the accounts social media.

Reflections

Giselle’s plan after high school is to attend the four year University of California Santa Cruz. She will study Film, Digital Media & English. She receieved a 35,000 scholarship from UCSC and also won a 7,000 scholarship from MVLA Scholars.

Plans for next year: 4-year University at University of California Santa Cruz
Major(s) or Job: I plan to study Film, Digital Media & English (Freestyle related field).
Scholarships: I received a total of 35,000 in grants/aid from UCSC. I also won MVLA Scholars for 7,000 each year & 1,000 from Burwen Education Foundation & 1,000 from the Caramagno & Johnson Scholarship. All of these are being accepted.
Reflection about Freestyle: I am very glad I took Freestyle. I think it helped me come out of my shell artistically and I can’t imagine my last two years of High School without it. I met some great people and learned a lot about myself.
Advice to 1st Year Seniors: Take advantage & say yes to everything!
Freestyle in 5 years: I think this one is kind of hard and maybe not possible but I would’ve loved having the opportunity to have taken Freestyle all four years of High School. I’ve always wished for an experience like this & while I’m glad I got to experience it for two years, I feel like it would’ve been great to have all four.

Giselle’s SNR Narrative Film was done with Jordan Fuller. This is an out of the bottle film, following a similar story line to Freaky Friday, however, in this film, a girl and her cat swap bodies.

Giselle’s Junior Doc was done with Jordan Fuller. This Documentary is on House of Bagels, which is one of MVHS’s students favorite place to go for a quick snack during Tutorial or lunch.
