Freestyle Academy’s SNR Film project is one of the biggest projects I’ve ever done.
It is equally rewarding & traumatizing.
PRE-PRODUCTION
PITCH
Back in October of 2025 our first SNR Narrative themed assignment was to create a slide-deck for our pitch. That’s when I began drafting many ideas, but none really stuck. I was worried about doing something bland & boring for my biggest Freestyle project, until I finally got the idea of a cat and girl swapping bodies because of my cat sleeping on the end of my bed.
An overworked, burnt out, sleep deprived teenager wished for a break, the universe gave her whiskers instead.

Below is an example of my pitch! My acts were very rough, but the overall premise revolved around mental health & remembering to just take a break. In the end, the final film did change just a little because we couldn’t figure out a way to make it work theme & character arc wise. We actually had a lot of trouble with keeping Claudia the main character
SYNOPSIS & SCREENPLAY
Our Narrative was under the rough name of Whimsy Kitty for a WHILE. We struggled with coming up with a unique name, but Jordan came up with Scaredy Cat! It ended up fitting super well until we ultimately changed the plot over and over again….
Like I mentioned before, we struggled with our characters the most. Our biggest problem was making Mochi, the cat, the main character when we wanted Claudia to be the MC. It was hard, but I think the final product turned out really well!
PRE-PRODUCTION PACKAGE
As our first semester “Final” we had to do a Pre-Production package. This included a shot-list, schedule, lined script & a strip board. Below are small snapshots of what we did!

Some things ended up changing because we were kind of ambitious when we wrote it…Despite this, we still got some great shots with my cat, Dash, who played Mochi! He was a great actor 🙂

Jordan and I participated in Mr. Taylor’s all nighters on the week of exhibition!
It wasn’t very fun. But, we finished our film in time!
