We were prompted to write something about a current event that’s related to what’s happening today. I’ve chosen to highlight this sentence from 1984, specifically Page 51. The character Syme is describing on what the term “newspeak” to Winston, who says a bunch of nonsensical words as examples. Based on my personal experience, this reflects how the world uses slang a lot, especially young people, either in real life or on social media. But at the same time, I wanted to highlight this because it’s similar in comparison to slang online.
