20. Rule of Odds

Congregation of Three Friends

For reasons outside my scope of understanding, humans greatly enjoy odd numbers in visual compositions. While I do not know the reason for this, I can’t help but agree that the use of odd numbers tends to be much more appealing in this way. Perhaps it’s because there is a definite middle point?

As a consequence of having a driver’s license, I show up much earlier than the other Los Altos students, who take the bus. Typically the only people here when I arrive are a group of three friends pictured above, conversing and conspiring about everything and nothing. They have become such a staple sight of my daily routine that I figured they would make a great showcase of the rule of odds.

I like the result of this photo, but I do feel slightly bad for intruding upon their privacy. Oh well.
