47. Creative Staged + Depth of Field

My inspiration for this photo was completely spontaneous. During a film shoot with some classmates, I spotted one of my friends relaxing on the beachfront, listening to music with closed eyes. I was touched by the serenity and vulnerability of the subject, and beckoned to capture the moment. I figured a center-framed subject would make for interesting composition.

The depth of field of this photo is clearly shown by the way the subject’s body recedes and seems to become smaller with distance. His feet and what is visible of his arms shrink to tiny size in comparison to his head. In fact, his body appears so small that it is almost entirely obscured by his hat.
