For this assignment we were told to capture a piece of our culture through photography, I looked around our house for a while trying to find a piece which did not feel like a stretch, or corporate. What I mean by corporal is artificial. lots of Mexican related cultrual items can be associated or are associated with brands, whether they be food or otherwise. That is when I went to the kitchen and captured something I believe is the best representation that feels the most genuine, that being our spice rack.
Our spice rack is something I have seen my grandma use many times in my youth, and so I feel as much nostalgia and love for this as many parts of Mexican culture, I have seen her dash all kinds of spices into foods me and other family members I have enjoyed, it is not corporate, it is family.
