Intro
The following are some visual productions that were assigned not necessarily for a unit project like Documentary. I used the application Adobe InDesign for both these projects to refine some of my skills and improve my technique.
One Page Flyer
Artist Statement
For my One Page Flyer Project I decided to create a fictitious music benefit. This benefit is meant to raise money for research to support global warming organizations by bringing together famous bands and artists from the 60’s, 70’s, and some from the 80’s. Most of these artists have passed away and would no longer be able to perform but the entire idea of this poster and this event is to ask, “what if?”. This list is composed of artists I regularly listen to and I will never get the chance to see in concert. I wanted to imagine a world in which I would be able to see all my favorite artists in one place, at one time, performing all their greatest hits on after the other. I made this even a benefit for global warming since climate change is a big issue in our world. I thought this would be an awesome way to raise funds and support research. I am most proud of the fonts on my poster as well as the gradient in the background. These different psychedelic fonts that I have on my poster were not on InDesign originally. I searched up different psychedelic fonts and downloaded a few free ones then installed them to InDesign and I’m really proud of the way they add to the character of the poster. The gradient in the background was something I did not know how to do in InDesign until this project, but by messing around with the gradient tool I quickly figured it out and thought it would make a great background. This was an overall time consuming project for me since it took so long to figure out how I wanted my poster to look, but in the end I am proud of my work.
Trifold Brochure
For this project I was assigned to create a trifold brochure related to my documentary project subject. Since my documentary subject was about the Mavericks Surf Contest located in Half Moon Bay, I decided to design a brochure for a weekend get-away in Half Moon Bay. I used my outside three panels for a title page, location page, and weather advice. For my inner three panels I chose to promote popular places to eat, areas to shop, and a recommendation to watch surfers riding the giant waves at Mavericks. Not only did I use InDesign to create but also added my own personal icons I design in Adobe Illustrator. These include: California, the poppies in the title page, and the hoodie. I ended up being quite proud of my final product and I enjoyed creating it.
