After graduating, I will be attending Santa Barbara City College majoring in Graphic Design with the intent to transfer to a four-year university after two years. I am not entirely sure of the career I want, but I 100% want to pursue design and be involved with art in some way.

For my showcase review, I decided to talk about the product design project, specifically my logo/label and my magazine ad. Doing this project, it helped me realize I see myself maybe looking into advertising. It isn’t my main goal of what I want to do, but I think I could pursue the design side of advertising, especially with the techniques we learned in design. My main takeaway from this project was being able to define your audience and how to properly advertise to them specifically.
Overall, I have grown across so many aspects of my life because of Freestyle. Besides just the knowledge I gained of Adobe applications and how to use them, which will provide me a great advantage in school and my future career, the social aspect and the teachers have made such an impact as well. I feel like I have gained the ability to take criticism much better than I used to, since we are constantly peer reviewing in English and Design. It has made me seek out different opinions on my works, as I feel like it only improves my work. I also gained skills working collaboratively, from doing group projects in English, to discussing ideas in Design, to also when my friend Rachel Berry and I worked together on designing the Turkey Trot t-shirt. Furthermore, I have learned how to work with “clients”, from doing community projects that Mr. Flo sent out. I got to gain experience with the projects, and learn how to coordinate meetings and work with people – seeing what ideas and designs they like versus don’t/how to communicate that. I will forever appreciate Freestyle for what it has done for me, it was the best decision I made in high school!
