Introduction
The final Junior project at freestyle is called exploration where we were encouraged to explore our passions and make a project out of it. The only limit we had was that it had to fit within about 2 weeks. This project also served the purpose of of giving us a taste of the final senior project Zenith, where we do the same thing but on a bigger scale
Design
For my Explorations project and design I wanted to do jewelry, specifically silver clay. However, Miss P advised against silver clay because it would take too long and be too difficult, and she directed me to polymer clay instead. I was specifically interested in rings, so that’s what I made. I wanted to do a Celtic knot design on the Rings, but because of time limitations and also just difficulty limitations, I had to significantly simplify my designs. I made one ring that was sparkly to emulate the look of silver, and one that was blue because I wanted a colorful ring that wasn’t so minimalist.

Final Product
In the end my final product turned out quite well, though the blue ring significantly darkened in color. I did not think this would happen because the clay is quite a light color.

Reflection
Overall the explorations project was one I definitely enjoyed. Making these rings and doing polymer clay in this way, I can’t wait for Zenith when we can expand on what we do or choose something else.
Poem
In English we started studying poetry with our amazing Poet in Residence Christine Moore, who who in conjunction with Mr. Greco guided us through creating multiple poems in many interesting ways. For example we made a cento poem which was a poem that takes the words of other authors and combines them into a new poem. We also made an Ars Poetica which is a poem about poetry itself. This is the one I ended up choosing for my final Explorations poem.

Music Recording
For digital media we are asked to make a cover of a song using Freestyle’s professional recording studio. We were also asked to do this as a group. My group chose to make a cover of the song Fireflies by Owl City. The first part of the project was going into the actual Studio, where Mr Flo would record you playing your instruments and singing the song. This was the main part of the project. After that, the group had to do the mixing and the album cover which was done by two other group members.
Read Our Artist Statement
For the music recording project we wanted to do a cover of Fireflies by Owl City Because we all really like the song and we all wanted to make an excellent performance of such a nice song. Overall, our main takeaways For this project was definitely scheduling is the most important part because our group came together definitely at the last minute which definitely provided someone with a challenge but it also brought together people who probably wouldn’t have worked together normally. When it came to actually performing, we all did quite a job to be proud of, especially the vocal performances from both people and also Jack, who made the album cover, did an enjoyable job of making that cover. Really overall, this project was quite the fun experience that I think we all benefited from and definitely gained some excellent skills from Including.

Photos from our Recording session

Our album cover was created by our group member Jack. It’s a replica of the album cover for the actual album. I think Jack did a great job.
