Narrative Visual Perspective in English

For the narrative two project in English we did worldbuilding which was the main focus worldbuilding was split into three parts the research assignment ,the story treatment and the video they were given in the form of a presentation the video was made from the presentation overall this has been one my my favorite projects at freestyle because Worldbuilding is something I’ve always been interested in but never gotten around to

Worldbuilding Research

The first part of the world building project is  the research project. Where we were asked to research on a topic related to our world building. eventually give a presentation for it. I chose to do my research on habitable exoplanets because that’s related to my project in the sense that our story is a sci-fi tale

Treatment

The second part of the world building project is the treatment we wrote out our story in both bullet points and a super detailed long form way also include the character details and all the other things you would need to get a hang of the story. Mr. Greco said it should be up to seven pages ours doubled that

Sureal Composition

As another part of the World building project we were asked to make a surreal composition based on the project we had done. to prepare for this project, and sharpen our Photoshop skills, we were asked to make two funny compositions, for preparation and practice. After that, we were to make the final World building composition. The general synopsis of my World building project is that it’s all about themes of environmental destruction and environmentalism, in which robots are part of the story.  Therefore, I decided to portray a robot presiding over the destruction of a beautiful natural landscape. First, I went to Wikimedia Commons to find an image of a beautiful landscape that I knew I could easily find there. Then I decided the first thing I wanted to add was a sinkhole in the water, so that it looked like the robot was draining the lake in the picture. I used my composing skills to find an image for a sinkhole, and blend it very nicely into the lake. Blending it required isolating it from the larger image it came from, smoothing out the edges so it looked like there was a good transition between the two photos, and then adding color and texture with the overlay and color blend modes. After that, to really emphasize the environmental destruction, I decided to make the forest look like it was on fire. I did that with a fire image that I used the overlay blend mode on, but then duplicated so it had kind of a double vision effect to really make it stand out. Finally I added the robot which comes from a 3D model of a robot head because I was having a lot of trouble finding a suitable robot image. The way I transformed it from a 3D model to just a picture was taking a screenshot of the 3D preview. To give it some depth I wanted to make the robot look like it was holding on to the mountains in the background, and peeking over them. To do this, I found a pair of stock photo hands grabbing onto something and to make it more surreal I removed their thumbs. After I added them I applied a gray color filter on them so they would be more robotic and less organic looking. Finally, to make it look even more surreal I pumped up the saturation of the entire image. Overall, this project was a very fun escapade into the world of blending compositions in Photoshop, and I think that I produced something that is truly emblematic of my World building project.

Worldbuilding Pitch Video

For the last part of the worldbuilding project we were asked to turn our live presentation into a video constrained to 5 minutes so we could be concise in the presentation of our story. The video was animated in After Effects with found images to get the idea across.
