For a final project in English at Freestyle, we were studying humor and how it works, understanding what makes things funny. The first thing we did to really study humor was to read Kurt Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse Five. After that, we did a rhetorical analysis of a piece of humor where we broke down all of the humor choices and exactly how it’s funny. Then we made our final humor project, which is our own funny piece of humor in any form, and presented it to the class on our last day at Freestyle.
Rhetorical Analysis
The second thing we did for the humor project is the rhetorical analysis where we took a piece of humor, and we analyzed it as you can see below. I chose a clip from the sitcom Arrested Development that I thought was extremely funny, and I selected it over many things that I thought were very funny as well, such as other comedy shows, skits or clips of them.

Final humor
For the final part of our humor project we were asked to make a humorous production that could be basically anything from a comic to stand-up comedy to a video. Most people did a video, including me, and I did my video about a fictional product: the Chickenator. As the name indicates, this is a gun that turns people into chickens. And overall, I think that the construction of my video and this whole project has been quite the fun endeavor for the last thing we’re doing at Freestyle.
