Depth of Field

1/300 f5.0 ISO100

For the depth of field prompt, I captured an up-close photograph of an aged purple flower, surrounded by a forest of branches and various petals with similar characteristics. In order to create a sense of depth and distance, as well as the illusion of never ending flower sprouts, I strategically adjusted the zoom and focus settings on my camera to portray the closest flower peals with razor-sharp focus, while all of the surrounding petals and trees are blurred. This gives the illusion that the adjacent nature is very far away from the one in-focus, and continues beyond the photograph itself. I enjoyed utilizing my camera settings to create this illusion from a simple scene in nature, and hope to continue recreating this effect.
