Narrative Visual Perspective in Film
For our Senior Narrative Unit, we were challenged with this question,
“How well can you apply advanced narrative techniques to build a compelling story?”
In Film, we used our advanced pre-production, production, and post-production techniques to write a 10-page screenplay, and develop and produce a 8-10 minute narrative story. Using our skills learned over the past 2 years, the Senior Narrative is our biggest project as a Freestyle senior in Film.
For my Senior Narrative, I worked alongside Kylie Outten, and we produced an innocent, heartwarming short narrative film based on our main character Emma, and her sister Daisy. The story illustrates Emma, the older sister debating to go to a dance academy she was accepted into, but Daisy, the younger sister doesn’t want her to go. The two undergo their character arcs, and develop their personal worth through their love for dance.

Reflection
I really enjoyed the process of producing my senior narrative “The Last Dance” because it incorporated aspects of dance, which is my own passion. I loved working with my partner Kylie Outten, as well as our wonderful actors Jane and Hannah to produce this piece, and hope that our storyline brings so many smiles to people around the world. I am so proud that this was my last production as a film student at Freestyle, and hope to continue to make films in the future using the techniques and styles Freestyle has taught me these past 2 years.
Thank you.
