Zenith
Hello, welcome to my Zenith page. My name is Mia Florendo, and I’m a second year film student at Freestyle Academy. Outside of school, I love to dance, hang out with friends and family, as well as watch movies and shows on my nights in.
So what is a Zenith Project? The Zenith Project is our last “ULTIMATE” freestyle project where students choose what they want to produce. Students can use the skills they have learned at Freestyle or outside of class to try something new; no limit to creativity!! Given this opportunity, I chose to produce a personal documentary that was about my life being revolved around Freestyle. For those of you who don’t know me personally, you should be aware that I am related to Mr. Flo (the Digital Media teacher at Freestyle), and I’ve been living with Freestyle’s existence my entire life.
Throughout my time at Freestyle, I have always shared the stories of others through writing or visual narratives, but for my Zenith, I wanted to focus more on my own story, and how I could share it through visual media.
This project was a new challenge because I had worked on it alone. Typically for Film, it would involve lots of collaboration throughout the production process, but with this, I just had to know what I wanted and how I would be able to achieve that. It took some time, and I’ve learned self-direction as well as improved my time management skills overall. Although there were some aspects that made me rethink if doing this project was worth it, the most rewarding part of this was seeing my final documentary and being able to reflect on my life so far, and how Freestyle has been such a significant part of it.
