Film noir is a generally darker style, and our prompt this week was to tell a story in this style. I took a photo of the Rengstorff House, which learned has a pretty dark but interesting history. A group of (slightly insane) friends decided they wanted to buy this house, but were short some money, so they resorted to nefarious means to reach their goals…

The house has a good oldies aesthetic which goes with film noir, but I contributed to the style by adding a dark sepia filter, which darkened a lot of the lighter colors but kept the high contrast which is characteristic of film noir. Overall this photo tells the story of a mysterious, abandoned house with a dark history. To make it truly film noir, all we need is a morally grey protagonist and a femme fatale.
