The rule of odds is a compositional technique in which the photographer searches for items in groups of odd numbers, or odd groups of objects, in order to avoid the subjects to compete for the viewer’s attention. There are three groups of objects: the two grey utensils, the three seaweed-less rice balls, and the seven seaweed rice balls. I really like how this picture turned out: it was the second time I had tried to do any kind of food photography, and I hadn’t really prepared these rice balls specifically for the photo, but I just fixed them up a bit and they ended up working really well.
