Photo Blog #5: Symmetry Landscape

Photo Edited in Photoshop using Overlay blending mode.
(Original Photo) Aperture: 5.6, Shutter Speed: 1/4096 ISO: 1250

This photo was taken through a car window while the car was driving on a hill overlooking an agricultural field. I had to make the shutter speed very small and set the focus to automatic in order to avoid blurry photos. I later edited it in Photoshop right after learning how to use Overlay layer blending modes in class. I first copied the original layer and created a new adjustments layer, played around with the levels, then made another copy of the original layer, changed the layer mode to Overlay, and lowered the opacity so both effects could be seen. The result was a photo with a darker and more saturated foreground that emphasized the vibrance of the field with a lighter and more washed out sky in the background. These choices helped enhance the leading lines and symmetry that communicate the almost-perfect-ness of man made agricultural fields.
