Even in Japan, there’s time for ice cream. I promised myself I’d eat healthier in Japan, and I did – to an extent… as Angie always says, “There’s always room for a sweet treat”.

I took this photo as part of an exercise for Mr. T’s lighting unit in Film. This photo is not only a recreation of one of Arnold’s most famous scenes, but a lighting shot that I worked extremely hard on. It took me nearly an hour to get the lighting to look the way I wanted, but I’m overall extremely pleased. Below is a picture of the scene I was trying to recreate.

Big, strong man, ready to strike his target.

Telling the story of someone you know well is sometimes the hardest story to tell. One of those people for me is my dad. He works extremely hard in his job as a teacher, and it all started from a young age. His parents were both professors and had high expectations for him academically. And well, he didn’t disappoint. I aspire to be like him in that sense, because how you do one thing is typically how you do most things, and he works extremely hard overall.

The good old nativity set. We typically have at least one of these set up year-round. My family places their faith in Christ, and we tend to reflect on the birth of our Savior. We still go to church whenever we can to give thanks and praise. What a beautiful truth we have.

When I was little, my parents always told me to stay away from the rose bush, otherwise, I’d get a thorn stuck in my finger or hand. Well, I’m glad I did. No injuries from roses yet! But this time of year is interesting for our rose bush – either it has plenty of roses growing, or it has very few. All the other roses seemed to be struggling or dying, but this one rose was very pretty, and seems to be doing well.

Who’s that guy? No, not the guy in the background, the one with the weird hat! Mr. Florendo taught us some cool tricks with our camera’s shutter speed, where we can see rays of light in unique shapes if we time it up correctly. Still don’t remember who that was in the background…

For the times, they are a-changing, at least in the automobile industry. My neighbor across the street loves his old fashioned cars, even if they aren’t very common. He likes the ability to show off something uncommon, and not fit in with all the electric, modern cars. As Bob Dylan said, “As the present now will later be past, The order is rapidly fadin’”

When we were remodeling parts of our house, the bathroom was the first room to be remodeled. We had to constantly change the bucket out so the dripping water from the faucet would be caught, and no matter how you looked at it, the water caused some cool shadows around the outside. It looked a little like a new moon phase to me.

“Have you heard about a man named Jesus? He’s the Way, the Truth, the Life. He stretched out his arms on a rugged cross and paid every sinner’s price. When you’re tired of all your running, you don’t have to run anymore. You can leave it all behind you – just believe and be reborn!”

I’ve never been the type of person to wake up early to watch the sunrise, nor chase the sun as it is setting. I’ve tried chasing it, and it always gets away faster than I can blink. But at least I was able to capture a picture of its beauty as it goes away for the rest of the day, and the moon becomes our main source of light.
