When we were remodeling parts of our house, the bathroom was the first room to be remodeled. We had to constantly change the bucket out so the dripping water from the faucet would be caught, and no matter how you looked at it, the water caused some cool shadows around the outside. It looked a little like a new moon phase to me.

“Have you heard about a man named Jesus? He’s the Way, the Truth, the Life. He stretched out his arms on a rugged cross and paid every sinner’s price. When you’re tired of all your running, you don’t have to run anymore. You can leave it all behind you – just believe and be reborn!”

I’ve never been the type of person to wake up early to watch the sunrise, nor chase the sun as it is setting. I’ve tried chasing it, and it always gets away faster than I can blink. But at least I was able to capture a picture of its beauty as it goes away for the rest of the day, and the moon becomes our main source of light.

As I was watching the Boys’ Varsity Soccer Team warm up for their home opener against Pioneer, I figured, “why not get on the field and snap a picture while I can?”. Normally, I’m not the type to run onto the field in the middle of a game – I’m typically the one playing in the game – so this gave me a unique perspective that I normally don’t get to partake in. It was a great game overall, and I am extremely glad I came to watch.

In this week’s photo blog, we were challenged to take a self portrait without including our faces in the picture. I decided to have a darker picture of my self, and highlight the cross. I took this picture when we were practicing with our DSLRs and experimenting with our Speedlite flashes. I didn’t originally intend for the picture to be that dark, but I learned that I could highlight and emphasize the cross with the power of Adobe Photoshop. The result can be seen in the image above.
