Bol Park-Lightshoot

This photoshoot was an assignment for SLAM magazine, a creative publication through Mountain View High School. As a photographer for the photo team, I was instructed to go out and take visually interesting photographs with an editorial feel. Using my two classmates as models, (Jr. Whitney Ross & Sm. Jessie Erb), we were able to create photos with strong emotion and visual interest through lighting.

Using Freestyle resources of stoplights and color sticks, as well as film and DSLR cameras, we were able to shoot in the Bol Park storm system tunnels, a large-scale water project for emergency water diverting. Living in California, the storm systems have sat unused for years and were decommissioned in 2009, allowing locals to tag art on the walls and install murals in the 3.2 miles of dark tunnels. As a result of the lack of natural light deep within, we were able to use lighting to create unique photos.
