<Create an image with a sense of visual weight or mass>
This assignment was to go out and create a composition that develops interest through visual weight or mass, with no other creative limits or jumping-off points. For this assignment, I had the inspiration to use color as a significant visual aid in this image. Using a gradient of yellow, the contrast between the dark green plant and the back wall creates a dramatic photo. This contrast adds to the visual weight expressed in the photograph as the hues in the yellow bring out a sense of joy and warmth, split by the plant, whose size and color variation become the prominent visual weight in the image.
This image of a potted plant is from the Royal Alcazar in Sevilla, Spain. On a summer trip, I was able to tour the 11th century palace and I happened to captured this image.
